Model Input

This section contains the input data necessary for watershed model simulation, from watershed condition, load information to management measurements. All data are aggregated either to land segment or land-river segments, and some of them are further differentiated by land use. Since Phase 5 model uses its own naming system, before download any data sets, you will need to download either landnames.xls, rivernames.xls, or landuse_definations.xls to figure out which data files are for the geographical region your are interested.

Atmospheric Deposition

This will contain dry and wet deposition of nitrogen on the watershed. Download coming soon!

BMP

Management Practice (BMP) efficiencies for total nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment by land use and land-river segment. Edge of field loads are multiplied by the efficiency factor prior to the delivery to the reaches of the river segmentation.

Crop Data

Update Target files contain nutrient uptake targets by for total nitrogen and phosphorous by land use and land segment in pounds per acre per year. Max uptake files contain maximum nutrient uptake for each land segment by land use and nutrient in pounds per acre per year. Uptake Curve files contain monthly nutrient uptake fractions by land segment, land use, and nutrient.

Diversion

These are water taken from a river or reservoir for water supply or irrigation.

EOF Targets

These are calibration targets for loadings that transfer from the land to the river segments throughout the watershed in pounds per acre per year. EOF Target files are separated by species (labile and refractory organic nitrogen and phosphorous, nitrate, ammonia, and phosphate), surface and base flow, land use, and land segment.

Land Use

Each record contains the total acres of each of the 25 Phase 5 land use types by land and river segment.

NPS Nutrients

Monthly nutrient application data for fertilizer, legumes, and manure by species (organic nitrogen and phosphorous, nitrate, ammonia, and phosphate), land use, and land segment in pounds per acre.

Point Source

The point source file contains point source flow and nutrient loads daily by land-river segment. *PLEASE* note that the file is to big for excel. You will lose data if you open it in excel as it exceeds the 64K row limit.

Septic

Total annual estimated septic load by land-river segment in pounds per acre per year.

Soils

These files contain percentage of various types of soils present in each land segment (by FIPS code only), the accuracy of the data, and the percentage of sand, silt, clay, and organic matter of each county's soil. There is also a file containing information pertaining to the soil property analysis, the soil texture properties, and figures displaying data taken from the STATSGO database.
