Introduction

This purpose of this workshop is to demonstrate the capabilities and potential uses of the Chesapeake Bay Forecasting System (CBFS) to attending Watershed Organizations from around the Chesapeake Bay region. The CBFS currently provides forecasts of key water quality and weather parameters up to 14 days in advance. Given the high resolution of these forecasts in time and space, they could be of high value to Watershed Organizations wishing to convey information on the health and condition of their local waterways to stakeholders.

Location and Registration

The Workshop will take place at the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center in College Park, MD. Directions can be found here. You can register for the Workshop at the Chesapeake Meetings Website. Registration is FREE and lunch will be provided. Registrations deadline is August 15th and due to space constraints, registration will be limited to 40 people.

What is CBFS?
CBFS structureThe Chesapeake Bay Forecast System (CBFS) is a flexible, end-to-end expert prediction tool for decision-makers that will provide customizable, user-specified forecasts showing multiple aspects of the Chesapeake region's climate, air and water quality, local chemistry and ecosystems months into the future. Users will be able to configure their own "what if" scenarios and then see the results of specific land-use choices, climate trends, development, demographics or environmental conditions on particular sections of the bay.
